Missouri Council for Exceptional Children holds their Annual Awards Ceremony

The Missouri Council for Exceptional Children (MO-CEC) recently held its annual conference at The Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Missouri.  Along with educational sessions and social events, the conference included the Annual Awards Ceremony.

Columbia resident, Andy Janssen was recipient of the Yes I Can! Award for Community Service. This award is presented to acknowledge the achievement of children and youth with disabilities; to overcome barriers caused by public misconceptions; to encourage children and youth with disabilities to seek their highest potential; and to increase public awareness of the abilities, aspirations, and personal qualities of people with disabilities. “Andy loves volunteering and does so in many places around Columbia.  He is a very social individual and enjoys being around people.  This makes him a great example of how he is not letting his disability slow him down in this world,” said MO-CEC 2009 Awards Chair, Misty LaRoe.  “We are pleased to present the Yes I Can award to him. Andy will be nominated by MO-CEC to the International Yes I Can awards for 2009.”
